Your First Visit
Many people have questions about the treatment procedures and diagnostic processes involved in their chiropractic experience. The following paragraphs will help explain the process of your first visit with Alexander Chiropractic making your experience as comfortable as possible.
Patient Forms
We try to keep our paperwork to a minimum. You will be asked to fill out some brief form when you arrive for your first visit.
Consultation
Once the paperwork is complete, you will meet with our case manager, nurse practitioner and Dr. Alexander. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Alexander and staff to discover more about you, your condition and your expectations in order to determine whether our type of care is right for you. During this time, you should feel free to ask any questions or address any concerns you might have. If Dr. Alexander believes you are a good candidate for care, he will proceed with the examination.
Examination
After your consultation with the case manager, our nurse practitioner will perform a complete medical examination which will test your reflexes, the strength of various muscle groups, joint motion, as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
After the physical exam is completed, x-rays will be taken if Dr. Alexander deems them necessary. This diagnostic study will help Dr. Alexander evaluate your case and make a more accurate diagnosis. X-rays are essential to rule out more serious conditions and assist in developing the best treatment plan for your needs. If additional studies such as MRI or CT are indicated, Dr. Alexander will refer you to another specialist to have these completed.
Report of Findings
After all the information from your exam has been gathered, Dr. Alexander will review it with the team and develop a treatment plan that fits your specific needs and will be the most effective. During the next appointment, he will discuss the prognosis for your condition based on the exam information. Dr. Alexander will also make recommendations for what he believes is the best way to treat your condition and discuss how long treatment will take. He will also discuss how much it will cost and address any other concerns you may have.
Treatment
After the review of findings, you will provided with your first treatment. The treatment may consist of chiropractic adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. In addition, exercises and nutrition counseling will be incorporated if necessary. Dr. Alexander will be sure to explain what he is doing the first time so that you are as comfortable as possible.
Length of Appointment
Your first visit is our office will typically last about 45 minutes. This should be enough time to perform the consultation and exam. Dr. Alexander wants to have the necessary time to carefully consider your case and personalize your treatment plan, therefore you will be asked to make an appointment for the report of findings and treatment. This second visit typically lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. Dr. Alexander does not want to rush matters connected to your health and this process was specifically created to deliver the best and most personal care possible.
