What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used to restore balance to the flow of energy, called Qi (pronounced “chee”). While this can be unfamiliar terminology and territory for some, research displays the efficacy of this practice to relieve a wide variety of chronic pains. The concept of seeking a balanced tone in the flow of vital energy is a similarity shared by chiropractic and traditional Chinese Medicine and complements the other therapeutic services offered at Alexander Chiropractic.
How Does it Work?
Acupuncture employs the use of hair-thin needles to access various pressure points throughout the body. This is believed to stimulate the central nervous system and release chemicals into muscle tissue that boost your body’s natural painkillers and improve the balance of energy (or Qi) in your body. This service is offered right here in our offices by Dr. David Young, our licensed acupuncturist. It is a safe, well-studied practices, and does not have negative side effects.
